SP hosted more than 200 global energy leaders for the 25th Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and the Western Pacific (AESIEAP) CEO Conference, in conjunction with Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW). AESIEAP is the region’s largest non-governmental organisation in the power industry. This is the first of SP’s two-year tenure leading the association.
Delegates engaged in insightful discussions on how regional cooperation can enhance grid interconnectivity, finance clean energy projects and overcome technical challenges.
President of AESIEAP and SP’s Group CEO Stanley Huang opened the conference by reiterating the shared goal of AESIEAP members – to shape a reliable, sustainable and secure energy future. He reaffirmed SP’s commitment in enabling the energy transition, such as augmenting grid capabilities, integrating decentralised and distributed energy sources, and contributing engineering expertise in energy imports and regional interconnectivity.
Officiating at the conference, Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry spoke about the critical role that power grids play in empowering the energy transition, including the importance of cross-border collaborations, particularly in realising the ASEAN Power Grid vision. He said SP’s experience in managing grid infrastructure will be valuable, contributing through SP PowerInterconnect as the technical and development partner in collaborating with importers of low-carbon projects.
The stellar lineup of local and international speakers in the energy ecosystem included representatives from the utilities companies, financial institutions, original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and consultants.
As part of SP’s two-year AESIEAP leadership tenure, SP will also host the 25th Conference of Electric Power Supply Industry (CEPSI) in Singapore next year. As AESIEAP’s flagship biennial event, CEPSI is expected to attract over 1,000 delegates, further cementing Singapore’s role as a hub for thought leadership in energy innovation and sustainability and reinforcing SP’s commitment to driving transformative change across the energy landscape.
